In addition to manufacturing the finest theatrical counterweight rigging
equipment, SECOA also manufactures a complete line of winches and controls
designed for years of dependable service and safety. From the basic push
button, up-down systems to the most advanced variable speed vector drive closed
loop systems; SECOA is a full service manufacturing company featuring
industrial rated components for dependability, durability and safety.
-
SECOA starts with solid, dependable, matched motor/gearbox combination and
adds only the highest quality solid shafting. Winch drums are meticulously
machined to the highest standards. A secondary over-speed safety brake is
standard with every SECOA winch. Winches are assembled using the highest
tolerances to assure proper alignment and safety.
-
SECOA controls use only industrial rated components that are UL recognized.
From the basic to the most advanced, all of our control systems would feel
right at home on any assembly line running 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
Line Shaft Winches

Line shaft winches have a single motor connected to a series of drums. The drums
are connected via solid shafting and shaft couplers and supported with flange
bearings on mounting plates. Line shaft winches are located centrally above the
line set with the lift lines dropping straight down for the winch to the line
set. Line shafts can also be located away from the line sets utilizing standard
loft blocks to direct the lift line down to the line set. Lineshaft winches
lift the entire load of the lineset, no counterweight is required. Lineshaft
winches can be controlled by a push button control systems, the Target V
control system, or the SECOAview control system.
Drum Winches (multi-line drum)

Drum winches contain one drum with all the lift lines located on it. These lift
lines then route up to a staggered multi-sheave head block across to individual
loft blocks and then down to the pipe batten. Drum winches lift the entire load
of the line set, no counterweight is needed. Drum winches can be controlled by
a push button control systems, the Target V control system, or the SECOAview
control system.

Counterweight Assist Winches
Motorized counterweight assists are used in entertainment venues to
raise and lower scenery, draperies or lighting equipment. These machines work
in conjunction with the counterweight arbor to move heavy loads, often quickly
and within a dark environment. Each lineset with a counterweight assist winch
should still be properly counterweighted. Accident or injury can easily result
from the misuse of this or any other stage equipment.

Counterweight assist winches can be controlled by
a push button control systems, the Target V control system, or the SECOAview
control system.

Capstan Winches
A capstan winch is used in entertainment venues to raise a loaded batten to a
point where the arbor can be safely loaded. These winches use a rope attached
to a hauling eye on the bottom of the arbor to pull the counterweight arbor
downward towards the deck. This system is not intended for use during a
production, as the speed is limited to 17.5 feet-per-minute and visual
monitoring of the batten movement is mandatory in order to avoid entanglement
with other objects. The capstan winch must fully engage the reaction tube along
the bottom of the locking rail before any load is applied to the capstan winch.
|

|
SECOA capstan winch systems all feature "dead man" control construction. The
system requires the operator to physically hold the power switch in position to
initiate winch movement. All winch movement will cease automatically, if the
"dead man" switch is released.
Motorized Winch Control Systems
Winches are operated electronically from a control panel or with a hand held
pendant controller. All SECOA built control equipment is provided with a key
switch (ON/OFF) that is intended to restrict unauthorized use of the system.
Push Button Control
A standard push button control panel is the most economical control solution
available. It consists of a wall mounted, UL Listed, NEMA 1 control enclosure
that contains up and down Push buttons for each winch. The up/down push buttons
require continuous pressure to operate the set, release of pressure from the
switch will stop the movement of the winch. Each control panel also features an
emergency stop push/pull button. The emergency stop push button will disconnect
all power to the entire system assembly and halt operation at any position.
Typical operation would be to select a winch and press Up/Down push button for
direction of travel.

Target V
The Target-V
is a stand-alone position control system for motorized theatrical rigging with
built in networking capabilities standard. This system offers recording of
multiple targets for repeatable positioning. The Target V system is designed to
be: flexible, dependable, reliable, affordable and safe. The Target-V
comes with an On/Off/Reset key switch and local E-Stop button. The ability to
teach new targets and the scaling features are password protected so that
system settings cannot be compromised. Elevation is displayed in feet and
inches. Manual up and down buttons are included for use when the Target-V is in
manual mode.
|
|
The Target-V system uses "dead-man operation" buttons for all movement. When
the button is released all movement stops. This system intelligence allows the
unit to automatically select the motor direction based upon its present
position relative to the target that you tell it to go to.
SECOAView
SECOAVIEW is SECOA’s industry leading, state-of-the-art motor
control; utilizing a touch screen to graphically display and operate the
motorized equipment. SECOAVIEW’s innovative system allows different users
various levels of accessibility through individual passwords. Users without the
proper level of access will be locked out of changing or recording system
presets, operating curtain motors, or changing soft limits and speed of the
motors.
