Our Curtains Include The Following Standard Treatments:

  • We will always meet or exceed the quality of fabric specified. Since not all fabric received is perfect, we select only the best for all our stage curtains.
  • We will normally provide velour curtains with the nap sewn in the downward orientation. This allows for easier cleaning since the dust will tend to fall out when swept. If high performance (maximum absorption of light) is desired, the curtains are sewn with the nap up. They are more difficult to keep clean but they perform better. All velour is darker in the nap up orientation. Nap direction has no effect on pricing.
  • We provide 3½" jute webbing double stitched 2¾" on center to the top of the curtain with either "S" hooks, snaps or tie lines (as required) in pneumatically set grommets 12" on center.
  • We sew pleated curtains with seams under or between pleats, not on top of pleats. All seams will use thread closely matching the color and fiber of the fabric being sewn.
  • Chain pocket (with #8 galvanized chain installed) is provided in a 6" bottom hem in all curtains that normally hang with the bottom at the stage floor.
  • Border curtains have 2" side and 4" bottom hems; Leg curtains have 2" side and 6" bottom hems. All hems have a 1" turn under.
  • Traveler curtains have a 2" side hem on the offstage side, a 27" leading edge hem, and a 6" bottom hem. We do not sew down the leading edge hem as it shows an unnecessary row of stitching on the front of the curtain.
  • All hems are double turned for strength and finished appearance.
  • The top and bottom of curtains will be within ¼" parallel. All curtains are "tabled" to insure accurate heights.
  • Lead tape or other toxic substances will not be used in our curtains unless specifically requested.
  • Pipe pockets are provided for cycloramas and backdrops unless otherwise specified.
  • All curtains are shipped in plastic lined, double walled cardboard boxes. Larger shipments will use our specially designed pallet for easy loading with a forklift.

All other treatments usually will incur extra charges. Our standard treatments and construction techniques provide a very high quality stage curtain.
